Taken on the same magic morning as Light’s Flight www.flickr.com/photos/geoffc/1772082490/
Dawn at Garie Beach in Royal National Park just south of Sydney Australia. A seagull very obligingly flew into frame just as I was taking this.
This image is dedicated to Pete Foley who recently wrote me a wonderful testimonial. Pete has been writing thoughtful and generous comments on my photos for longer than I care to remember and is a brilliantly versatile and accomplished photographer. He’s also just recently been published in a book on Cincinnati. You can check his work out here:

Frosty Morning

Frosty Morning, originally uploaded by rasone.

This is another image from my recent trip to Canada. I was sorta on the fence with this one and that’s why I am just now posting it (besides the fact that I don’t have anything new to share because I haven’t been out shooting for about a week now :)). The conditions were ok for this, but technically, I sorta messed this one up by having the foreground slightly out of focus. I have cropped out more than half of the grass at the bottom in this one.

The good news is that I have learned from my mistakes the past couple of months, and I think I have largely solved this particular issue. Long story short, I was getting too close (low) to my foreground. I just recently figured this out, and you can still see the problem in some of the latest images I have posted. For those of you with the Sigma 10-20 lens shooting landscapes, it’s a good idea to be at least a foot away from your foreground. For more information on this you can read about hyperfocal distance here

We should have some good snow after the weekend, and I plan to get out and enjoy it.
